My roommate is Hawt!!!!

So today, as I was watching tv, my roommate Lea came running into the living room- "Loren Loren Loren, I'm going on a shuffle and I need these jeans to be distressed." And I said, YES! I just finished a project on denims a couple weeks ago and knew exactly what to do! Bring out the scissors, steak knife, razor, and cheese grater! Haha, it truly worked! After cutting up and blazing, we splashed white paint all over! It was so much fun/ super hard cause it kills your arms muscles....those poor asian children.

Girrrrl, you lookin fineee

Hope you like Lea's behind ;) So, what do you think? Would you pay over $100 for jeans with holes and paint?....or $50 for a pair of regular jeans and do a lil work on it? Tell me what you think!

You're Selling What???

After working at a mall over this past summer, I've come to realize that there are some stores that are good-quality and are worth buying, but then there are others that look like the owners are just trying to make bank....boo on them. One in particular that I've come to dislike is American Apparel. Granted, it's trendy, affordable, and is well known. But, some things coming out of the store are dumb. For example, the hooded swimsuit:
I thought the point of wearing a swimsuit was to show off the bod? What's the use of this excess hood? Whatever....

Another thing that the store is currently doing is a "Best Butt Contest," where people from all over send in pictures of their butts......What?!? Is it just me, or is this an invitation for people to start prostitution?
Again...whatever. I don't see the point in this other than to solicit prostitution, fo real. And don't worry, there's also a male butt contest as well, but I'll spare you.

Looking at their website, I notice that they advertise they're business is doing well and have many job opportunities. But, if you look closer, there are comments of people whom claim they've applied numerous times and have not heard a single word from the stores. Plain and boring clothes (no prints or patterns), soliciting sex (about as bad as Abercrombie), false advertising of job opps, and useless articles of clothing? That's a no-go for me. On top of all that, the New York Post has reported that the company as trying to avoid bankruptcy! Maybe expanding the store to Brazil should be at the bottom of their check list? Just a thought.

Uma going down?

This month, Uma Thurman's movie starring Minnie Driver and Jodie Foster showed in London. Sales show that it didn't make bank. Woops, I thought Uma's career was successful? It only made £88, or $130....maybe when it hits the States it'll be more marketed? Hope so....the first sunday it came out only one ticket was bought.

Helping with Haiti

For one of my classes this past winter, I did my final paper on fashion for Haiti, and who's doing what to help with the relief of Haiti. Good news! As soon as the Haiti tragedy happened, designers and retailers were thinking of ways to help these suffering families. There is currently a shirt being sold by many retailers with the words To Haiti with Love: Hope, Help, Heal, Haiti. I was at Easton the other day and saw it in J.Crew. There are many stores selling it, and are being sold for $25. All proceeds will go to Haiti relief efforts.
Beyonce has become the spokeswoman for this t-shirt

One celebrity that has done tremendous work for Haiti relief is Naomi Campbell. She has done 2 different runway shows, one in New York and one in London. Both shows had ticket sales going directly to relief efforts and the outfits being auctioned off will have all proceeds going to Haiti. Some celebrities that appeared, and some were in the runway show, include Kate Moss, Kelly Osbourne, Chris Brown, Geri Halliwell (baby spice), Donna Karan, and many others. For the london show, Naomi made a tribute to the recently deceased designer Alexander McQueen, who died days before the show.

Naomi wearing McQueen, and wife of British Prime Minister, Sarah Brown, helped Naomi in coordinating the runway shows. In all, both shows were a hit and all money that was made has been, and will continue to be proceeded to Haiti relief. The clothes from the show are being auctioned on netaport.com

The retail industry has stepped up in helping Haiti, what can you do to help?

Let's Go Green

Today is a big day for OU Bobcats. Running on a winning spree, upsetting the #3 Georgetown Hoyas (by the way, what the hell is a hoya?) and playing the Tennessee Volunteer's today at 3:30.... bring it on!!! If we win (knock on wood) there's a good chance we could play Ohio State. What a matchup!!

Along with all this green talk, I've been noticing a lot lately that companies today are trying to maintain their products and trying to commit to "staying green." So far, it's been slow....thinking about it is different than actually doing it. Wal-Mart is saying they want to cut 20 million tons of gas emission by designing energy-efficient stores and finding ways to reduce shipping---cutting down the number of routes that shipping trucks make. It's about time! I've never really been a fan of Wal-Mart because it's such a community company killer...it puts the mom and pap stores out of business :( But, I may have a change of heart if they can make this work. They say by 2015 they're hoping to accomplish all this. I've been to Wal-Mart and have noticed a slight change in layout, and change in some departments. But, what I've also noticed is they have sun light shining in through the entire store. Wouldn't it be smart to turn the huge energy-eating lights off during the day to save some money? I should be a green spokesman

Attempting to increase the power of green is not easy, but the job market has increased tremendously for "green workers." Energy efficient utilities have increased their work force by 9.1% over the past decade. Though the economy sucks right now, and jobs are not sparking up, it's good to hear that the "going green" is expanding.

Along with Wal-Mart some other companies that are on a top 25 going green list include General Electric's (GE), McDonald's, Home Depot, Starbucks (surprisingly), Target, Hewlett-Packard, Honda, and Coca-Cola. Some designers that are attempting to use recycled materials and have an image of going green include Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karen, and Versace. All of these designers have been asked to design clothing that will be sold for Barney's of New York.

Alright, enough of this business talk, time for some basketball! Watch the Bobcats as they dominate in Rhode Island...GO CATS!

Your Kid Looks Ridic!!

I love it when celebrities have babies....you know why? Because now they have an excuse to dress up their offspring in something they would never wear themselves, or at least they never thought they would wear as an infant. I also love it cause I always get the image that they can dress them up like a newly owned chihuahua. Sometimes, it's ridiculous! But sometimes it may look decent

Jessica Alba's kid is sporting the ever-so infamous "swan" look.....didn't this get a worst-dress award?

Believe me I love Gwen, but seriously?

Angelina and Brad's lil tot is looking cute! But I'd say the skinny-baby jeans and a peacoat is a little much

And how can I talk about baby celebs without talking about Suri Cruise? She seems to be a baby-celeb, so without a doubt, she has to dress like one right? As cute as she is, this outfit is a little much. A tailored white fleece coat with a skirt and slip-ons? She looks better than normal big-names!

And just to give it a lil throw back, look at little Dakota! AWWWWW I remember her child-fame days and seeing her in interviews, talking like she's a big-shot. And she is! She seems like a good hard worker and lives up to her name, unlike other celebrity trainwrecks (Lindsay Lohan). Go Dakota go! And go watch her new movie coming soon, The Runaways with Kristen Stewart. It's getting good reviews and she's so grown up!

Party like a Rockstar

For my first official post, tonight I was watching my daily Chelsea Lately and special guest Avril Lavigne came on. After watching Alice in Wonderland last night (which by the way is a movie to see!) her song "Alice" was the theme song for the movie. With her success as a musician, she mentioned later in the interview that she has her own clothing line! Wow, working on her 4th album, traveling the world with Alice in Wonderland premieres, and a clothing line?! Good for you Avril! The line is call Abbey Dawn, and here's a little taste of her clothes:

Trendy with a lil punk twist? Seems to have some good profits. And it's only be sold at Kohl's, so it's defiantly affordable.

....Now if only they would make something for men, hmmmm

Hello Blogging!

Is this on?

I've had a couple friends that have created blogs, so I figure....why not try? Since I'm living the life of retail (and plan on doing that for a while) I wanna focus on new trends, gossip, what's in style, etc. So, I'll try to keep up with this and show you the life as a lifestyle! :D

....and did I mention, having no vaca plans and having friends in other states while in spring break=total boredom? aka- starting a blog?
